To live in a comfort zone could be a perfect equation to failure. Failure as in not getting to the point you had set out for yourself because you live comfortable right now. That is what can separate someone who remains relevant and someone who blows up then fades in to the Passé. It separated why Kanye West keeps rising and why he outsold 50 cent (who found a comfort zone)
I have seen allot of my people's have aspirations to do something big and then they find a comfortable situation, could be girlfriend, job, crack, gang lifestyle, which makes them forget what it is that they were fighting for in the first place. Nothing wrong with it from their angle but in my eyes a man who doesn't fight for the dream he sat out to achieve is a man who is dead in the soul waiting for his body to catch up.
A while back I was sitting with a good mentor of mines and we had a deep conversation that eventually had him show me that success is not necessarily about comfortable, it's more so removing yourself from whatever makes you comfortable and stepping in to another realm. The reason most of us fail is because most of us don't like to lose what is familiar to us, friends, girlfriends, family but those who go for it that road can get lonely, because not everyone will buy into what you want to do and that is why people go backwards. (Unfortunately time doesn’t tick backwards)
Back in the days we as niggers in the hood didn't necessarily like the avenues given to us to make money but it was something we needed to do, it was never comfortable because deep down you know you’re working for death, you know the woman wants that shit and that she will neglect her kids, fuck over her husband and maybe overdose this time but you sell anyways because you want to make a buck so you can buy yourself a new pair of Nikes.
The mechanics of selling in the underground isn't necessarily something we liked to do. But at the moment for us to remove ourselves from the troubles given to us at that specific moment we purposely removed ourselves from the comfort zone. It's a harsh example to brush on but the same mechanics translate into almost anything you want to achieve in life. Whether that reward is a positive reward or not that's up to beholder, I know for me the positive only lasted for just as long as the woman's high and I didn’t want to be stagnant in a vicious cycle.
As a model Mellisa talks about going to the gym. Exercising and it's something that she hates to do which is naturally beyond her comfort zone. In order for her to eventually land that cover of KING Magazine she will have to do things that she may not like and that is the story of this underworld called "the business".
We all do things that we don't like in order to aim for a higher comfortable life and when we get to that level or to the accomplishment some of us stay the same and few of us are greedy enough to want to more than what we already have and move forward, but if there was no such thing as greed or the feeling of needing more than what you already have then we wouldn't have successful people to look up too
