Kanary Diamond?

Well the Kanary diamond is a rare diamond, and I'm a rare rap chick! I'm an entertainer!

Where did it all start?
I started as a dancer. Praise, Modern then I started doing hip hop choreography and back ground dancing for upcoming artist. While I was a dancer I wrote poetry and songs both singing and rapping. My old manager was putting together a girls group so that's when I started singing. That group didn't work out so we tried another one this time we wanted to do something different. So we tried two rappers and one singer (with me rapping) this group also didn't work, but I feel in love with rapping so I been going at it ever since.

You started in dance moved to poetry now you are an artist
It was just a natural progression for me. I always knew I could sing and rap back when I was a dancer I guess I was just waiting for the right opportunity to present itself and when it did I took it and ran with it! There are no limits when it comes to creativity and I don't think my progression stops here.

When did you know you fell in love?
I was about 3 when I fell in love with dancing and the love for music just followed. When my grandfather died I threw myself into music. It became my everything, my best friend, my father figure, my mentor, my everything! From then on whenever I felt something I wrote didn't matter what emotion. I drowned myself in it to get away I locked myself in my room and drifted!

From Wu Tang to Destiny's Child we find that hip-hop or any music groups can't seem to keep it together based on your own experiences what do you think contributes to that?
Yeah groups are a hard thing to maintain especially when money and fame is involve. At some point everyone wants to be the star.

Is there any particular artist that you think influenced you and how?

Yeah I have always been influenced by 2 Pac because of his passion no matter what Pac was talking about you could feel the passion behind it, Lauryn hill, Nasâ™ "Illmatic" and Alicia Keys "A minor" got me through high school. Others I looked up to where Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Curtis Mayfield, Doctor Dre, knickleback, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, Mya, and Yoyo. Everyone basically, anyone that has the guts to do it!

What's happening to Lauryn Hill?

She's actually working on a new album can't wait to hear it.Â

What makes Kanary Diamond the next big thing?

I'm an entertainer. I'm not your regular female rapper. You could say I'm a rapping Janet Jackson, with Beyonce glamour, with the desire to venture in many avenues like queen Latifah. That's why my name is Kanary Diamonds because I'm a rare rap chick.

What are you up to right now?

I've been doing a lot of shows, that's my thing I love to perform. I've also been doing some features basically just working hard practicing and writing daily to perfect my craft.
